Miley Cyrus recently debuted a longer hairdo reminiscent of her days as an up-and-coming artist. But a new report suggests that the look could be inspired by an old flame!

Sources say the 23-year-old is interested in reconnecting with her ex-fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, who she split from in September of 2013.

Miley has said in the past that Liam likes her hair better when it’s long," an insider tells Hollywood Life.

"She hasn’t come out and said she’s growing it out to get him back, but they’re talking again and she’s still got fantasies of them getting back together and living happily ever after so it makes sense that she’d want to impress him."

The duo first met on the set of The Last Song in 2009 and became engaged three years later. Their breakup was announced just weeks after Miley's infamous VMAs performance with Robin Thicke.

“Liam isn’t the only guy – or girl – she’s interested in, but he’s at the top of her list,” the source adds, noting that the "Wrecking Ball" singer is fairly open in her dating preferences.

Contrary to the song's lonely lyrics, Cyrus seems to be enjoying her Christmas with friends and family and gifts from Gucci Mane as evidenced by her Instagram. "My Sad Christmas Song" comes just weeks after Cyrus and Wayne Coyne's crew wrapped up their bonkers Dead Petz tour.

The Flaming Lips themselves are no strangers to offbeat Christmas tunes: Ever since celebrating "Christmas at the Zoo" on 1995's Clouds Taste Metallic, Coyne and company have sporadically dropped holiday tunes over the past 20 years, including their sci-fi film Christmas on Mars, their 2003 track "A Change at Christmas (Say It Isn't So)" and their festive, secret 2007 EP Atlas Eets Christmas.

The pop star was spotted grabbing lunch at West Village vegan spot By Chloe on Monday.

She was with her musical collaborator, Flaming Lips lead singer Wayne Coyne, who worked with her on the album “Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz” and is touring with her.

“Miley sent him a ton of photos – Liam was asking for photos of the dog being held,” an employee at the adoption center told Us Weekly. “Liam got back from China and literally came right to Wylder’s to take the dog home. The dog is super gentle and sweet and took right to Liam, despite being afraid of men in the past.”Not only did Liam adopt the puppy, but he allegedly bought a bunch of treats, donated, and named his new furry friend Dora after Dora The Explorer, the magazine claims.

“Thanks @mileycyrus for loving dogs as much as we do!! You helped find this gigantic, 6 month old puppy a new home. @liamhemsworth you will give this deserving baby a great life!” the rescue center captioned a pic of the hunky actor kneeling next to Dora. So cute!

The Vamps, Nick Carter and Miley Cyrus: Real-Time Twitter Rewind for Oct. 9

Welcome back to Billboard's weekly video show "Real-Time Rewind," which recaps the past week's hottest action on the Billboard Real-Time Twitter Charts -- Trending 140 and Emerging Artists -- and the news that fuels it. So what happened on the Real-Time Charts this week?
The Vamps’ ‘Wake Up’:  British pop band The Vamps return to chart action this week with “Wake Up!” and its official video. The clip stars Brooklyn Beckham, son of former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and retired soccer icon David Beckham, performing a series of action stunts while the group jams atop an enormous transmission tower. Upon the video’s release on Oct. 2, “Wake Up” raced to No. 1 on the Trending 140.
“Wake Up” previews The Vamps’ sophomore album, of the same name, due out Nov. 27. The set follows their 2012 debut, Meet The Vamps, which contained the singles “Somebody To You” and “Oh Cecilia (You’re Breaking My Heart).” The cuts featured popular reworked versions with Demi Lovato and Shawn Mendes, respectively.

Backstreet’s Back…Sort Of: Backstreet Boys' fans received a double whammy of past and present this week thanks to Nick Carter. First, the former BSB dropped a new song and video “I Will Wait,” which he explained was inspired by Ed Sheeran’s songwriting. The song climbed to No. 1 briefly on the Trending 140. In addition, Carter is a contestant on the current season of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, and performed his jazz routine to one of the boy band’s most memorable singles, “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back.)” The performance sparked Internet nostalgia from several members of the Backstreet Boys.
Back to the future: “I Will Wait” previews Carter’s upcoming album, All American. The album is his third solo project, after 2002’s Now or Never and 2011’s I’m Taking Off.
Miley Tackles SNL: After a relatively quiet month, Miley Cyrus roared back into the public eye this October. First, the provocative pop star released “Hands of Love,” a song from the upcoming film Freeheld, which stars Ellen Page and Julianne Moore, on Oct. 4. Upon release, the track flew to No. 6 on the Trending 140.
The following day, Cyrus assumed hosting duty for Saturday Night Live, which featured sketches around Taylor Swift’s squad and a guest spot from Hillary Clinton. Cyrus also performed on the program, singing “The Twinkle Song” and “Karen Don’t Be Sad” from her latest album, Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, which he surprise released after the VMAs on Aug. 30.

Nicki Minaj Explains Why She Called Out Miley Cyrus at the VMAs

When Nicki Minaj called out Miley Cyrus at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards for disparaging comments the pop star made about her a few days before the ceremony, Minaj stole the show (and inspired a whole line of Etsy products) with a single line: “And now back to this b-tch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press—Miley, what’s good?”

Now, the “Anaconda” rapper is explaining why she did it.

In a new interview with the New York Times Magazine, Minaj addresses the summer drama that seemed to involve all of the year’s biggest pop stars. First, Minaj’s “Anaconda” video did not receive a Video of the Year nomination from MTV, which inspired Minaj tweet about how the show only “celebrates women with very slim bodies” and inconsistently acknowledges the cultural contributions of black women. (Beyoncé did receive a nomination in that category, however.)

Then, Taylor Swift interpreted Minaj’s comments as a personal attack and accused Minaj of “pit[ting] women against each other.” Swift later apologized, and the two went on to patch things up and kick off the VMAs together—but not before Cyrus (not to mention Katy Perry) weighed in on the incident. Cyrus told the Times a few days before the awards show that Minaj’s complaints were “not polite” and “just about [her]self,” even after the reporter conducting the interview tried to explain the larger cultural critique Minaj was making. Cyrus didn’t back down, though, which of course led to the shade-thrown-’round-the-world.

The singer-songwriter took to Twitter Sunday after Miley Cyrus'Saturday Night Live performance to praise the former Disney star'spsychedelic new album Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz.

Miley Cyrus MAC ad avoids ban after complaints it was overtly sexual

An ad campaign featuring a scantily-clad Miley Cyrus has avoided a ban from the advertising regulator despite complaints it was overtly sexual and could be seen by children.

The Wrecking Ball singer, who has a penchant for wearing skimpy and outrageous outfits, featured in a billboard and poster campaign for cosmetic company MAC.

The campaign, which included a billboard at a large shopping mall and posters on the underground, featured the singer lying on her back wearing a low-cut bodysuit with her legs apart against a mirrored wall.

The Advertising Standards Authority received complaints that the ads were offensive because they were overtly sexual and that they were unsuitable for display as posters in public areas where children could see them.

MAC Cosmetics defended the ads, which raised money for its AIDS fund programme, saying that Cyrus was in a “confident pose” which was designed to draw the viewer to her confident and “defiant stare”.

The company addressed concerns that her crotch is highly visible in the reflection in the mirror, arguing that the ad did not draw attention to that part of her body and could not be interpreted as being sexual.

The ASA disagreed stating that the overall message of the posters was sexually suggestive, but not enough to cause widespread offence.

“While we considered that the images in all three posters were sexually suggestive, we concluded however, that they were not overtly sexual and unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence,” said the ASA.

The ASA said that the ads should not appear within 100m of a school, a stipulation which MAC had already set itself when it booked the campaign with billboard and poster media owners.

The billboard and two posters that appeared on the London Underground featured Cyrus wearing a low-cut bodysuit lying on her back with her legs apart, with the posters showing a mirrored reflection of her crotch.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received complaints from three members of the public that the ads were offensive because they were overtly sexual and inappropriate for display where they were likely to be seen by children.

MAC Cosmetics said the reflected images of Cyrus' crotch were no more than would ordinarily be seen when walking along a beach with women sunbathing or by a pool.

They stated that while the images might be distasteful to some, they did not believe they would cause serious or widespread offence.

Nevertheless, they confirmed that all the media owners they had used had not displayed the posters within 100 metres of a school.

The ASA said some people might find the posters distasteful, particularly in the context of a make-up ad, and it considered that the images in all three posters were sexually suggestive.

However it concluded that they were not overtly sexual and unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence.

However, because the posters were sexually suggestive they were therefore inappropriate for general outdoor display and warranted a placement restriction of not appearing within 100 metres of schools.

The ASA added: "However, we acknowledged that Exterion Media and the other media owners MAC had used did not display the posters at locations within 100 metres of a school."

Dane Cook Responds to Miley Cyrus Romance Rumors With a Joke, Of Course

Leave it to Dane Cook to shoo away dating rumors with one simple joke.
When asked about the reports flying around of his alleged hookups with singer Miley Cyrus, the comedian advised E! News to get her gussied up for a date tonight.
"I'm always the last to know these things," the actor remarked. "Just let Miley know that I'll pick her up for dinner at 8."
The 22-year-old MTV Video Music Award host and the 43-year-old funnyman have reportedly been friends for years and even posted a photo together on Instagram after Cyrus' former boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger was caught licking salt of a model during a round of tequila shots on spring break in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in March.
However, Cook's newest comment helps to firm up any loose ends—the two are totally platonic.

Still, the "Wrecking Ball" singer remains indecisive when it comes to her love life, revealing in Elle U.K.'s October issue that she can barely make up her mind on matters of wardrobe, never mind matters of the heart.
"I'm 22, I'm going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I'm with," she admitted. "I'm very open about it; I'm pansexual. But I'm not in a relationship."

Hear Miley Cyrus' new song from Freeheld

In her post-Dead Petz world, Miley Cyrus is taking her talents to Freeheld, the forthcoming film about a real-life lesbian couple who fought New Jersey county officials for domestic-partner rights after one of the women, Laurel Hester (played by Julianne Moore), was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Also starring Ellen Page, the film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival this week and featured a new song from Cyrus. Called “Hands of Love,” the track was written by Linda Perry of 4 Non Blondes, and according to an interview with Time, Page suggested Cyrus as the performer. “She has a really raw, unique, awesome, beautiful voice, and Miley’s doing a lot of incredible things for the LGBTQ community,” Page told Time. “I just thought it was going to be a perfect fit. She and Linda made something really special. I kept listening to it after I heard it.

Picture this at the Oscars: a sing off between Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus. And they’d be singing songs by respectively two amazing female songwriters, Diane Warren and Linda Perry.

Last night we heard Miley’s new song, “The Hands of Love,” written by Perry for the Julianne Moore- Ellen Page movie “Freeheld,” co- starring Michael Shannon. The movie is a little gem, and the real story of how Freehold NJ police detective Laurel Hester (Moore) fought to leave her pension to domestic partner Stacie Andree (Page). This only happened a few years ago, before gay marriage was legal. The fight became national news as Hester was dying of lung cancer and wanted to ensure that Andree would be considered her rightful heir.

The screening in huge Roy Thomson Hall was unmitigated success, boding well for the October 1st release of the film. Everyone is top notch in Peter Smollett’s film, but Moore — with a showier role– could pick up awards buzz for her fearless portrayal of Hester. Miley Cyrus Apparently Settles Twitter Beefs With Blankies

Evan Rachel Wood is inarguably a standout in the social media game, bringing personality to the web and interacting directly with fans. But with that can come beef. The actress is at the Toronto International Film Festival promoting “Into the Forest,” in which she stars alongside Ellen Page.
When asked by MTV News about her Twitter tips, Wood said that she loves social media, calling it “just fun.”
“It’s nice to finally have a place to have a voice where people can’t just talk about you and write about you and you can’t do anything about it,” she said. “And I think it’s a cool way to let people know a little bit more about your personality and get to know you a little better.”

Pop singer Miley Cyrus never ceases to shock! This time she wore pink, heart-shaped pasties for her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC. Yes, you read it right! And Jimmy had a hard time looking straight at Miley during the interview. Poor guy!

iley Cyrus and Stella Maxwell have been documenting their closeness over each other's Instagram feed and even made out with cameras in sight. But lately, both have not shared pictures together sending the rumor mill into frenzy that they might be over.
In a report on Mirror, it was mentioned that the rumored pair have not been actively sharing pictures of each other on social media just like they did months before when rumors they were dating surfaced.
According to the Mirror report, while Cyrus was sharing pictures at home this week, Maxwell, on the other hand, has been sharing pictures of her hanging out with Lily-Rose Depp lately.
The posts, as seen on Maxwell's Instagram feed, included shots of the pair hugging each other close, a picture of them with the word "Love" on their foreheads and a shot of them seemingly about to kiss. Fans went on to comment on the pictures asking where Cyrus was.

We’re flashing back to two years ago when Miley performed Dolly Parton’s hit song “Jolene” during her Backyard Session series. According to the YouTube description, it is one of Cyrus’ favorite tunes.

Miley Cyrus is very busy these days. Not only is she getting ready to host the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, but she’s also working on some new music.
As previously reported via the Inquisitr, Cyrus, 22, is working on the follow-up to her 2013 Bangerz album. The singer’s album is expected to be “very experimental,” although sources close to Cyrus say that it’s not that good.
A new song by the former Disney star has made snuck its way onto the internet, although it’s not an official release. Miley’s new song reportedly is called “Freaky Surfaces,” which is about hooking up. The trippy and melodic new tune may appear on Miley’s upcoming album or her new Flaming Lips collaboration.
Cyrus previously expressed that she’s not looking to make Top 40 hits. During her interview with Marie Claire magazine, she said that she even wants to offer her album free of charge. Cyrus’ new song “Freaky,” features admitting to a lover that she has feelings for them.
Some news outlets have been reporting about the song, although it’s not available for Miley’s fans to listen to. According to Fuse TV contributor, Jeff Benjamin, the song has controversial lyrics like “You take me higher than I’ve ever been before/Don’t laugh when I say that ’cause we just smoked a bowl.” The writer also compares it to a Lana Del Rey-esque track.

“The new tune’s got a bit of a Lana Del Rey feel to it, which is in line with how producer Mike Will Made It (“We Can’t Stop,” “23”) described Miley’s new sound, ‘like country Lana Del Rey.’ It’s appropriate given Cyrus’ signature twang still on full display here.”

In the middle of getting freaky with her friends, Cyrus recently revealed that she has a crush on Kristen Stewart. The wacky entertainer took to Instagram to share a post of Stewart’s American Ultra poster with the caption: “K Stew is hot!” It comes to as no shock to fans that Cyrus would go see the stoner flick.

Miley Cyrus will take the MTV Video Music Awards stage to host the 2015 ceremony, and only the unexpected is expected for the big event. Cyrus remains one of pop's most unpredictable forces, and anyone who claims to know what her hosting gig will be like is fooling themselves.

Still, we — among with other Miley fans — naturally have a wish list for her debut VMAs hosting gig! Check out the five things we absolutely need to see from Miley Cyrus' Video Music Awards stint:

1. Some sort of performance

The status of Miley Cyrus' follow-up to 2013's Bangerz is still unknown, but that might change after she hosts the MTV Video Music Awards (or, before she returns to host Saturday Night Live this fall). Look, Mr. "Blurred Lines" has had a pretty rough 18 months after ruling the summer of 2013. Dude needs to put on his Beetlejuice suit, shimmy onstage and start getting in on the joke instead of being the butt of it. Remember when Paul Reubens opened the Video Music Awards in 1991 with "Heard any good jokes lately?"? That should be Thicke's blueprint.

4. Lots of charity information

As memorable as Cyrus' 2013 twerk-a-thon was, her decision to send a homeless youth onstage in 2014 to collect her Video of the Year award for "Wrecking Ball" was actually meaningful. Expect Cyrus to plug her Happy Hippie foundation and raise awareness to her noble cause through the 2015 telecast — as she should.

Anyone who has seen Cyrus host SNL or do practically anything on social media knows that the pop star has some seriously strong comedy chops. The worst thing Cyrus could do as a VMAs host would be to defer to everyone else; she needs to take charge and appear in a half-dozen sketches, because at least three or four of them will be uproarious. Miley Cyrus is putting the "finishing touches" to her new music.
The 22-year-old star has teased she has almost completed work on her eagerly-anticipated fifth studio album, almost two years after she released 'Bangerz', which spawned singles 'Wrecking Ball' and 'We Can't Stop'.
In a selfie posted on Instagram along with her producer and ex-boyfriend Mike Will Made It, she wrote: "Finishinnnggggg toucheZzzzz @mikewillmadeit (sic)."
The controversial musician made the post just hours after the producer premiered the video for his new single 'Drinks on Us' - taken from his 'Random' mixtape - in which Miley is seen heading into a club and smoking a suspicious looking cigarette with him.
Meanwhile, Miley's recent cover story with the September issue of Marie Claire magazine suggested she is planning on giving away her new record for free, with the singer adding she only makes music because she enjoys it.
She said: "I make [music] because I like it.
"And then I put it out to the public because there are some people out there who like it, too."
And her manager Adam Leber added: "Miley's not driven by dollars. She makes her own path. Once upon a time, that's what most artists did. Now, people like Miley are few and far between."
Back in June, Mike Will Made It updated fans on the progress of the record, saying they had completed "eight or ten songs".
He said at the time: "We've got like eight or ten songs recorded, so we're just gonna pick the best songs to go on the album.
